I have been playing with iPadOS 17 since the public beta was released by Apple a few days ago.
I think this article by The Verge summarizes my own feelings the best with Stage Manager: it is a lot better compared to the previous iteration, which was virtually unusable. But Apple is still not there yet. Some limitations are odd. For instance, why can’t an app be opened in two different stages at the same time?
I probably will not use Stage Manager for now. But if it improves, maybe next year.
What is striking is how quickly I adopted Stage Manager on macOS. I turned the feature on last year when the public betas went out, and I never deactivated it. It is not perfect on macOS. But it is quite surprising that a feature first designed for iPadOS, and then ported to macOS, feels more at home on a Mac than on an iPad Pro.
